Matt SanderManaging Director & Project Manager

Matt has been in the building industry for 23 years. Throughout this time Matt has been exposed to all areas within the industry and he carries an extensive level of expertise and craftsmanship. Matt is passionate about, and responsible for the work that takes place on your building site….and he is there to ensure the process of building your own home is as smooth as possible.

Mick McGeownDesign Manager

Mick entered the industry as a carpenter and has now been in this diverse industry for over 45 years. Mick is highly skilled in design and ensuring that the experience of building your own home is nothing but positive and exciting. Mick can assist in the earlier stages of your Horizon journey by breaking down exactly what you need to know about building your dream home.

Damien Sherry (Damo)Carpenter

Damien holds a certificate 3 in Carpentry and also a Boom Lift Certificate. Damien, or as the Team prefer to call him “Damo”…..has been in the industry for 9 years and has worked for Matt for 5 of those years. His key areas of expertise are Residential builds, Commercial builds, framing, concreting and landscaping.

Duncan Bull (Bully)Carpenter

Duncan is a fully qualified carpenter with 13 years industry experience. He has been part of our team for 7 years. He loves the diversity of projects, as there is always a new and exciting job on the go! He also values that the Team at Horizon Projects is one big family, focused on providing quality work and amazing results for clients.

Matthew Borg (Borgy)Carpenter

Matthew holds a certificate 3 in Carpentry and has worked for Matt for 8 years. He really loves the fact that Horizon Projects is a family environment and that they build quality and strong homes. He enjoys the fact that no two days at work are the same! Every day is different and the work is exciting and diverse. Borgy admires the fact that Matt passes on many great and refined skills to his Crew and that he is a super loyal to not only his workers, but also his contractors and clients.

Jarred VellaCarpenter

Jarred has worked in the industry and with our Crew for 2 years, initially joining the team as a school-based apprentice. He has already achieved his certificate 1 in Construction and certificate 3 in Engineering, as he works towards finishing his certificate 3 in Carpentry. Being part of our team from the “ground-up” of his career means that Jarred loves the final stages of projects where the Crew can reflect on what has been accomplished throughout the build. He loves the positive attitude of the team as this makes the hard work all worthwhile.

Reece Del SimoneCarpenter

Reece is new to the building industry and has joined the Crew as a first-year apprentice. He contributes to our team in a variety of ways while completing his apprenticeship and becoming a fully qualified tradesman. Reece is enjoying the endless opportunities to learn on the job and is excited by the diversity of work he has been exposed to already. He loves working alongside the Crew to deliver high-quality work for our clients.

While working for the team at Horizon Projects I have grown as a carpenter and learnt so many amazing things. Horizon represents the true meaning of ‘Mackay spirit’ we support local businesses and strive to achieve the best in all we do. Matt encourages me to challenge myself every day and my strong skills and extensive knowledge are very clear evidence of this. The jobs we undertake are so diverse and different, there really is no job too big or too small for Horizon and we love it that way! Matt is not only our boss and mentor, he’s a great mate, who goes above and beyond for anyone…and that obviously includes all of our clients. Working under Matt is a great privilege and I can’t wait to see what’s on the “Horizon”!
